Tralee Educate Together NS

Tralee Educate Together National School opened its doors in September 2002. It was Kerry’s first multi-denominational school. Our ethos is based on the four pillars of Educate Together:

  • equality based
  • co-educational
  • democratically run
  • child-centred

We were delighted to be part of a cluster of five schools participating in the Schools Excellence Digital fund this year. The Virtual Reality (VR) headsets have motivated pupils to engage more actively in their learning. Pupils from Junior Infants to Sixth Class were given the opportunity to use the VR headsets to enhance their learning. We are a smaller school and therefore have the advantage of a greater pupil to ICT access ratio.

The cluster decided to use the VR headsets as a means of improving oral language skills as part of the new Primary Language Curriculum. In the senior classes (5th and 6th Class), pupils researched and presented projects on the human body. During the course of the project, headsets were used  to view various body organs and systems using Google expeditions.
